Boston Children's Hospital Trust
Boston Children's Hospital Trust, the charitable giving arm of the hospital, came to us seeking a website update that would feel more modern, help organize their content, and allow them to feel connected to yet distinguished from the main hospital brand.
Working within a tight timeline and budget, the UX team and I created highly flexible and modular components that could adapt across page and content types, providing the client the most value possible.

The client wanted to prominently feature inspiring and heart-warming photography of their patients across the site. The design of the home page creates many opportunities to showcase this imagery.
I leveraged inspiration from the "bento box" design style, which utilizes lightweight containers to organize content. This visual separation allows for maximum modularity, as components will flow seamlessly while maintaining visual organization when arranged in any order. This style feels modern, while rounded corners help maintain friendliness.
Inspiring success narratives give users opportunities to explore the site and show the power of donor support.

Events are a key pillar of the site content, and a large driver of BCHT fundraising. The events landing page shows the breadth of opportunities for prospective supporters to get involved.
The design remains driven by photography, while the stacked and alternating layout provided balance. Negative space frames the text blocks and helps maintain an organized, modern feel.

We presented 2 initial style tiles. The client felt most drawn to the leftmost direction, but noted that it felt too warm and sunny with the yellow and super round corners. We moved into design with minimal edits.

These two snapshots show the website as it existed at project kickoff. The pages lacked intuitive information hierarchy, opportunities for storytelling, and compelling visual styling.
